New Evaluation Scheme For II Term Class IX In the currently issued circular, CBSE board has designed the syllabus of Science and Mathematics and the design of Mathematics question paper for Summative Assessment of 9th class will remain the same as defined in Circular no. 42.
Evaluation Scheme for Class IX II-Term Science Subject In Science, there will be two formative tests and a summative test at the end of year. The weightages and time schedule for these tests will be as under:-

The Formative Assessment 3 and 4 will include Written assessment based on theory, Practical assignment based on the curriculum of CBSE 2009-11 and Continuous Assessment. In Continuous assessment, the suggested areas are home assignments or class assignments, seminar, class response or oral assessment/quiz, symposium, group discussion and group activity. The group activity may include action plan, investigatory or experimental projects, survey and assessment on worksheets that are based on field trips.
At the end of year, the Summative test will be taken from the chapters as described under:-

* The fundamental unit of life
* Tissues
* Gravitation
* Sound
* Work and Energy
* Why do we fall ill
* Improvement in Food Resources
* Is matter around us pure

Formative tests may be many forms i.e. unit test based on the content taught in the respective periods, H.W./ C.W., written test, oral test, worksheets or assignment, group activity or discussion, quiz, projects of mathematics in the groups of 3-4 students. The topics can be chosen from the ones provided in the Activity book for Class IX or any other topic related to the subject and maths activities given in the activity book etc.
At the year end, Summative test will be taken from the following chapters.
