These days, Chartered accountancy as a career is alluring many young people as we can see a rapid growth in the sector. CA CPT is an entry level exam for every aspirant, who wishes to kick start his/her career in this field. This exam is conducted by a statutory body – the institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) twice in a year – in the months of June and December. On 19th June, CPT (Common Proficiency Test) is going to be held in Paper-pencil mode in across India.
Exam Pattern
CPT exam can be divided into two sessions of 2 hours each –
Session 1
1. Fundamentals of accounting – 60 Marks
2. Mercantile laws – 40 Marks
Session 2
1. General Economics – 50 Marks
2. Quantitative Aptitude – 50 Marks
In CA CPT Exam, there is negative marking too for every incorrect answer. Candidate can choose his medium of exam – Hindi or English, if he opts for paper-pencil mode of exam. However, English medium is the only choice for online mode of exam. For getting entry into CA course through this entrance exam, an aspirant has to achieve at least 50% marks in all sections of paper all together.
Exam Taking Strategies for CA CPT
Achieving success in CA CPT exam is an art and there is no shortcut for success. Hard work and well preparation are the keys to success. There are some valuable tips for you that will help you to ace the exam with flying colours.
1. When you get question paper in the examination hall, read all the instructions carefully.
2. Always read the question carefully before attempting it and do focus on the words like “NOT”, “None of These”, “All of Above”.
3. Attempt the easiest questions first. This way, you can increase your confidence level.
4. If you are not sure about the answer, always go for elimination method. In this method, try to eliminate those answers that can’t be answers ever.
5. For solving the question, try to recall the assignments, formulas, lectures. This way, you can easily solve the question.
6. Nevertheless, if you don’t know the answer, never attempt it as there is negative marking too.
7. At end, always allocate some time for reviewing the whole paper.
